Sinopse
Um garoto órfão recusa o nome dado a ele por um sacerdote e resolve chamar a si mesmo de Simon Templar. Já adulto (Val Kilmer), ele se torna um conhecido ladrão internacional que é um mestre nos disfarces e que assume nomes associados a santos. Desta vez ela foi contratado por Ivan Tretiak (Rede Serbedzija), um magnata e mafioso russo, que quer que ele roube a formula de fusão a frio desenvolvida por Emma Russell (Elisabeth Shue), uma bela e jovem cientista inglesa. Teoricamente falando, a fusão a frio permite uma nação aquecer seus cidadãos com apenas alguns litros de água, e Tretiak espera se tornar dentro deste contexto o grande líder que a Rússia precisa. Quando Simon terminar este serviço terá 50 milhões de marcos em sua conta na Suíça e vai então se aposentar, mas o notório ladrão não contava que iria se apaixonar por Emma Russell.
